Teller County (and surrounding area) Community Initiatives

Icarus Heights is a simple plan with endless possibilities. We produce one main product called “Sloth Candles.” These home firestarters replace the basic Duraflame-type firestarters found in most retail stores. Performance and price of these products is almost identical. Instead of letting all that firestarter money depart from our region, we are going to try to keep that funding in our community. A portion of the income from this basic product will be used to propel various community initiatives in and around Teller County, Colorado. Below is the modest beginning list of community initiatives we are launching with. Where it could ultimately go… who knows?

We have entered an age where the boundaries of business, family, community, work and play have become drastically blurred (for better or worse). Icarus Heights is an attempt to embrace our changing world. While technically it is a “for-profit” business, its ultimate goal is not ever-increasing profit. Our goal will be to maintain financial sustainability in order to foster a growing number of community services. We will always have an eye toward ongoing growth, but when we grow, our community services will grow as well. We will be transparent in our endeavors. If this community doesn’t feel we are living up to our stated goals, they can let us know or stop purchasing our product(s) at any time. Any endeavor we launch, we will launch it with the goal of providing ongoing support for that initiative.
